  • Community Care Solicitor Stockport Full or part time

We are a highly regarded, dynamic and busy Stockport based firm. There is an exciting opportunity for a Community Care Solicitor to join our expanding legal aid team and represent clients across a range of community care work.

We have a busy and varied Court of Protection department, and have a long history of representing those most vulnerable. The successful applicant will work together with our Court of Protection Solicitors if required.

The successful applicant must meet the supervisor requirements set by the Legal Aid Agency for the Community Care category of work, and ideally have a clean driving licence with access to a vehicle. Full or part time positions considered.

Secretarial & Administration

  • Receptionist/Administrator – Stockport

We are seeking a full time Receptionist/Administrator for our busy head office based in Stockport.

The successful applicant’s duties will include;

  • To provide reception and administrative support to fee earners at the Stockport office.
  • Handling telephone enquiries, making appointments and taking messages.
  • Greeting clients that attend the office.
  • Copying, scanning and faxing and other general administration work.
  • Assisting a senior member of staff in opening and distributing the post.
  • Scanning the firms post on a daily basis and linking to the relevant case file.
  • Audio typing.

Skills required;

  • Strong typing skills
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
  • A good standard of education and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines
  • The ability to work on one’s own initiative
  • The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a team
  • Some legal experience is preferred.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.15pm.

National minimum wage paid.

  • Conveyancing Secretary – Bredbury

We are seeking a full time, experienced conveyancing secretary for our busy Bredbury office.

The successful applicant’s duties will include;

  • To provide secretarial and administrative support to fee earners, to include managing and maintaining files from opening to archiving.
  • Handling telephone enquiries, making appointments and taking messages
  • Producing letters and legal documents
  • Dealing with land registry applications
  • Audio typing
  • Copying, scanning and faxing and other general administration work.

Skills required;

  • Strong typing skills
  • Conveyancing secretarial experience, together with knowledge of the conveyancing process is preferred
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
  • A good standard of education and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Experience of using a case management system is preferable
  • The ability to work on one’s own initiative
  • The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a team

The successful applicant’s duties will include;

· Processing bills prepared by a costs draftsman/preparing bills

· Billing Legal Aid, Legal Help and private files

· Liaising with counsel and experts regarding disbursements

· Making applications and dealing with the Legal Aid Agency

· Liaising with partners, fee earners and support staff

Skills required;

· Previous legal aid billing experience

· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office

· Previous use of a legal case management system is preferred
